Talbot Launches Fully Online Programs for the First Time in Fall 2017

April 12, 2017

For the first time, Biola University’s Talbot School of Theology will offer four fully online master’s degree programs beginning in fall 2017. The four programs offered online — Bible Exposition, New Testament, Theology (Greek Track), and Theology (Non-Greek Track) — will allow students to have easy access to obtaining their master’s degree without ever stepping foot on campus. Talbot is the first graduate school at Biola to launch an entire degree program online.

“We are excited to be able to offer Talbot degrees fully online to students across the nation and world who wouldn't otherwise be able to access a Talbot or seminary education,” said Clint Arnold, dean of Talbot School of Theology.

The online program facilitates the needs and individual student schedules and still receive the same academic education and biblical teaching they would in a classroom setting, according to Dominic Vincent, director of extensions and online education.

“These degrees utilize the same core courses as all of our degrees, so students get the same foundations in biblical and theological studies,” said Vincent.

Talbot has launched this program in order to make obtaining a seminary degree more convenient and accessible. Through the online programs, students will be able to complete their seminary education.

The four degrees have a wide range of appeal to students who are interested in ministry or academic studies. With bible exposition, students are able to understand and teach scripture well after completing the program. The new testament degree goes deep into the language, literature and historical setting of the new testament. Both of the theology degrees offer students  a deep understanding of social and Christian issues the church is facing today. These particular degrees are the most versatile at Talbot and have the widest appeal and applicability, according to Vincent. More Talbot programs may be offered fully online in the future as well.
