From the Editor
With this issue we conclude our three-part look at contemporary challenges to the reliability and authority of Scripture.
Robert Saucy, Talbot’s Distinguished Professor of Theology and the founding editor of Sundoulos, clearly and thoughtfully reaffirms the sufficiency and exclusivity of Scripture as God’s authoritative word. Anyone who would elevate reason, church tradition, or any other source to the level of divine authority intrinsic to Scripture must wrestle with Dr. Saucy’s logic. And there is an implicit challenge here as well: does the authority of the Word of God penetrate my life, or does it remain in the intellectual closet of my theology?
Kent Edwards, Professor of Preaching and Leadership and Director of Talbot’s Doctor of Ministry program, draws out the implications of the authority of Scripture for biblical preaching.
Our hope and prayer is that this series of articles will strengthen your proclamation and application of the inerrant Word.
We are your fellow-servants,

The Talbot journal, Sundoulos (soon'-doo-los), is designed to serve those who have graduated from Talbot and are in full-time ministry. Sundoulos grew out of an influx of requests for some kind of continued support for alumni as they finished their coursework at Talbot. In 1993, it joined with the Alumni newsletter and received a new format. Dr. Bob Saucy was instrumental in the creation of the journal and describes it as “a way we could bring the fruit of the faculty to alumni.”
