On Tuesday, March 16, at 11:30 a.m., between 150 and 200 Biola students, staff and faculty joined together on Calvary Chapel east lawn, the future site of Talbot East, for a special community time of prayer. The prayer time marked the launch the “Great 40 Day Fast for Talbot,” calling our entire community to fast at various times for 40 days for the Talbot expansion project. As a community of students, faculty, staff, donors, and alumni, we will be praying and petitioning the Lord to provide the remaining funding for the Talbot complex, with hopes of breaking ground following graduation this spring. Prayers were led by President Barry C. Corey, Talbot students and faculty, and members of Biola’s Board of Trustees. Will you join with us in praying for the Lord’s blessing on this project?
NEWS FLASH: As we go to press, we received word of what President Corey is calling the “Miracle of May 2010.” During the 40 days of prayer, the Lord graciously provided $6.4 million in gifts and pledges. On May 7, the Board of Trustees unanimously and enthusiastically voted to proceed with Phase 1, “Talbot east.” A groundbreaking ceremony will be on May 20, with construction to begin the week following graduation. Join us in praising God for this blessing, and please continue to pray for the successful completion of the building by August or September 2011.
