Sundoulos - Winter 2004

From the Editor

This academic year, Sundoulos departs a bit from the usual format to focus on Talbot faculty.

The focus of any seminary is, of course, educating and equipping its students, but the strength of any seminary is its faculty. God has blessed Talbot with an incredible group of men and women serving as scholar-teachers, many of whom are doing world-class research, all of whom are actively engaged in ministry. While there have most likely been some changes since you graduated, you will see the continuity of familiar faces as well.

We’ll interview several departments, asking them about developments in their field, about their own research, and about their thoughts on balancing their role as a scholar with their desire to serve the church. We know you’ll be excited to learn about forthcoming publications, and encouraged to hear about on-going ministries beyond the borders of the Biola campus.

We’re your fellow-servants,
Garry DeWeese

About Sundoulos

Sundoulos is published by the Talbot Alumni Association for the purpose of ministering to and communicating with alumni and friends of Talbot. All rights reserved. No material can be reproduced without the permission of the Sundoulos editorial staff.

The Talbot journal, Sundoulos (soon'-doo-los), is designed to serve those who have graduated from Talbot and are in full-time ministry. Sundoulos grew out of an influx of requests for some kind of continued support for alumni as they finished their coursework at Talbot. In 1993, it joined with the Alumni newsletter and received a new format. Dr. Bob Saucy was instrumental in the creation of the journal and describes it as “a way we could bring the fruit of the faculty to alumni.”
